Another Xbox exclusive is making the jump to PlayStation, with Avowed officially heading to PS5 and pre-orders going live today. While a specific release date has not been confirmed, Obsidian has announced a major update arriving at some point in 2026.

February 18, 2026, marks the game’s one-year anniversary, making it a plausible window for the update PS5 launch to ensure the strongest possible experience at release.

There is more to unpack for both existing and new players. During the New Game Plus Showcase January 2026 event, Obsidian outlined several updates and additions coming to Avowed, offering a clearer look at how the game continues to evolve following its original launch.

Fans can expect new playable species, including Aumaua and Dwarves, expanding the game’s sandbox and roleplay options. Each race has distinct physical traits that affect how characters feel in combat, traversal, and exploration.

The update also introduces New Game Plus, giving players a new way to replay the campaign. It allows players to restart the game while keeping their abilities and equipped gear, with progression resetting back to level one to avoid an overpowered start.

Enemy modifiers are being added as part of the New Game Plus experience to increase challenge. These include elemental resistances and reduced susceptibility to stun locking, helping encounters feel more varied across multiple playthroughs.

A dedicated photo mode is being added following community feedback. It makes it easier to capture player characters during exploration and dialogue scenes without relying on awkward camera positioning.

Obsidian reiterated that Avowed’s post-launch support is driven heavily by player feedback. It works closely with its community team to prioritise updates based on the most common and recurring player requests.
