NEW DELHI: Avinash Sable on Sunday made history, becoming the first Indian man to clinch a gold medal in the 3000m steeplechase event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

The 29-year-old, who holds the national record, secured India's first gold medal in athletics at the ongoing Games, finishing the race in a record time of 8 minutes and 19.50 seconds.
