Council tax bills across England are set to skyrocket from next month, with experts warnings that the hike could come alongside potential cuts to key services.
Government figures released today (Thursday) show that the average council tax bill in 2023/24 will be £2,065 - which is a £99 increase from last year.
The capital of London will see the biggest annual percentage rise where bills for an average band D property will increase by 6.2 per cent. Meanwhile, households in metropolitan areas outside of London will see bills rise by an average of 5.1 per cent - to £2,059 for the average yearly bill. Rural areas will see an increase of 5 per cent - to just below £2,140 per year.
