Autopsy shows fatty layer around singer KK’s heart: Kolkata cops

KOLKATA: Cops are sending reports of the postmortem and viscera of singer KK for histopathological test after the autopsy examination showed that he had a fatty layer around the heart that had turned white and the valves were stiff when the heart was opened, police sources said on Thursday. Histopathology is the study of tissues that can reveal blockages.

“Doctors have said the stiffness in the heart develops over a period of time. Hence, the post-mortem and viscera reports will be sent for histopathological tests that can reveal blockages,” a police source said.

Cops added that 10 different medicines, which deal with gastric and liver and Vitamin C, including some ayurvedic and homeopathic medicines, were found in his body along with multiple antacids and syrups that provide quick relief in acidity, heartburn and gas.

“It was learnt that he frequently used to pop in antacid pills. On the morning of May 31, he told his manager that he was low on energy. On that night he had told his wife that his shoulder and arms were paining,” a police source said.

Commenting on the investigation at Nazrul Mancha, the source said the fire extinguisher was opened before KK had reached.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, officers of New Market police station questioned one of the celebrity managers of Kolkata-based BlackEyed Event House that had arranged for KK to sing at the event. The person was with KK and his manager Hitesh Bhatt in the car when he was brought to the hotel from the Nazrul Mancha venue.

Cops also spoke to the driver of the car, Etwari Yadav who told cops that KK was feeling uneasy during the ride back to the hotel.
