I am experiencing flu-like symptoms and will be recovering over the next week.
I had tested myself daily since Sunday, including this morning, with all tests returning a negative result.
The Australian leader said he is now self-isolating at his home in Sydney, New South Wales, in adherence with public health guidelines after developing a fever.
His wife, Jenny, and daughters tested negative but will self-isolate due to being close contacts, he said.
Mr Morrison will continue to carry out his responsibilities as prime minister, including virtually chairing meetings and co-ordinating the emergency response to flooding in Queensland and New South Wales.
He added: “I will also be focused on our urgent response to the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine and Russia’s senseless aggression, staying in regular contact with our security and intelligence officials & our international partners, as well as working with the Treasurer to finalise the Budget.”
It comes after Mr Morrison was photographed with Piers Morgan on Monday.
The broadcaster and journalist uploaded a picture shaking hands with the Australian premier on his Instagram page.
He accompanied the picture with the following caption: “Great to meet Australia’s Prime Minister @scottmorrisonmp at his office.
“Had a fascinating 45-minute chat about everything from Ukraine and China to cancel culture (not a fan…), cricket (he really enjoyed the Ashes ), his genuine admiration for Boris Johnson… (!) .. and my new global TV show.
“Thanks for your time, PM, and good luck in your forthcoming Australian election.”
