The impressive Australian run in the women's team table tennis is over, their gold medal hopes dashed by a semi-final loss to Singapore.

Australia will meet Wales in Monday's bronze medal playoff after Singapore won their Sunday semi-final 3-0.

Jian Fang Lay and Minhyung Lee lost the opening doubles match 3-1 and that was also the scoreline for Yangzi Liu's singles loss.

Lay then lost her singles match 3-0, consigning Australia to the playoff for the bronze.

The Australian women had not dropped a match at the Commonwealth Games before the semis.
