Auston Trusty Sheffield United to Celtic transfer latest

'Genuine offers' have been made for Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty, admits manager Chris Wilder.

However, the experienced Blades head coach insists there have also been plenty of bids to cause unrest amid the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

Celtic are believed to be interested in the USA international as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad.

He is a left-footed centre-back, and if signed, would presumably replace Liam Scales in the starting XI for the Scottish Premiership champions to partner his fellow countryman Cameron Carter-Vickers at the back.

The 26-year-old was a target for Rangers when Michael Beale was manager. He gained vital Premier League experience last season, with a loan spell at Birmingham City the season prior allowing him to find his feet at Championship level too.

He joined Sheffield United from Arsenal in a £5m deal last summer, so it remains to be seen whether it would be a permanent or loan move.

But Wilder insists only 'genuine offers' will be considered.

Asked if there had been any bids, he responded: "Yes, there has. It’s not my favourite part of the year from a speculation point of view. There are genuine offers, but there are offers from clubs just to cause unrest.

"I’ve been in the game long enough, it’s annoying but you can’t do much about it. There has been some genuine offers as well that we have to discuss and make decisions on.”

Meanwhile, it doesn't look good for ex-Celtic star Matt O'Riley following a horror start to his Brighton career.

That's according to his new head coach Fabian Hurzeler, who fears the worst following a shocking challenge on their new £25m signing from the Scottish Premiership champions.

The Denmark international was spotted leaving the Amex Stadium on crutches after the Seagulls ran out comfortable winners in their EFL Cup clash with Crawley.
