A bad offensive line situation for the Carolina Panthers just got a whole lot worse.
As announced by the team on Wednesday afternoon, starting right guard Austin Corbett has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season. The sixth-year lineman sustained a left knee injury in this past Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Per Darin Gantt of Panthers.com, the latest setback to Corbett’s left knee is not related to his recently repaired ACL. Corbett tore the ACL in last year’s regular-season finale, which forced him to miss the first six games of the current campaign.
The Panthers will now have to finish the season without their two starting guards. Corbett will now join left guard Brady Christensen, who had been shelved after a biceps injury in Week 1.
Carolina also placed cornerback Dicaprio Bootle on injured reserve. Bootle, who sustained a knee injury as well, started the last two games.
