AURANGABAD: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) has sanctioned Rs 3 crore towards building different facilities for people with diabilities and transgender students.
The allocation has been made in the university’s annual budget of Rs 332.41 crore for the academic year 2022-23. Some of the other key allocations include Rs 1 crore each towards PhD scholarships for students from farmer families and strengthening of university library, Rs 2 crore for buying different software and IT infrastructure and Rs 10 lakh for reviving the old wells situated on the university campus.
Amid allegations of official neglect towards Osmanabad sub-centre of Bamu, the university has pledged a substantial fund-flow for the facility. It includes Rs 14.09 crore for the main office and different departments of the sub-centre and Rs 4 crore for setting up the boys hostel.
The newly set-up Sant Peeth, a first-of-its-kind institute aimed at imparting spiritual education, has received a funding of Rs 50 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Bamu vice-chancellor Pramod Yeole said the university was committed towards providing state-of-the-art facility and infrastructure for students.
“With major focus on infrastructure development at the university and sub-centre at Osmanabad, we hope that the university would achieve new heights in days to come,” he said.
