Audience groans as Tory MSP claims she'd bring back David Cameron

A TORY MSP caused an audience to groan after she claimed she would bring back David Cameron as prime minister.

Rachael Hamilton appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions on Friday evening alongside Stephen Flynn, Alex Salmond and Labour MSP Daniel Johnson.

One member of the audience asked the panellists which former prime minister they would bring back into office if they could.

The Alba Party leader said he would bring back Harold Wilson, who served as prime minister twice – firstly from October 1964 to June 1970 and again from March 1974 to April 1976.

“I think he was an amazing leader of the Labour Party and somebody like him would leave Keir Starmer standing”, Salmond said.

“If it was a first minister you were looking for then modesty forbids”, he added.

Johnson meanwhile said he was “disappointed” with Salmond’s answer as he was also going to say Wilson.

Flynn meanwhile chose former Labour Party leader John Smith, who he said, “should have been prime minister”.

Finally, Hamilton (above) explained: “Well I’m very happy with Rishi I have to say. My father would be very disappointed to hear this but I would bring back David Cameron.”

The answer was met with a number of groans from the audience as the MSP tried to defend her position.

“Maybe you don’t agree with me. I actually really liked David Cameron so that’s my choice.”

Cameron was prime minister between 2010 and 2016 and introduced austerity measures that studies have reported caused an increase in unemployment, poverty and homelessness across the UK.
