Audi driver caught parking over two spaces splits opinion

Social media users have been weighing in on a photo of an Audi parked across two spaces - with some saying the driver might not have had any choice. LeicestershireLive reports that a passer-by took the photo while walking through Birstall village in the county.

They noticed a car taking up space outside a row of shops and decided to post a picture of the Audi in the Facebook Spotted Birstall page and asked: "Why do people park like this?' And a lot of users commented with reasons why a motorist would park with the intention to block other drivers using a parking space.

One user wrote: "Why do people park like this? Genuine question, is it for a particular reason or is it just ignorance?"

Some were keen to suggest, unkindly, that 'ignorance came as part of the territory' of owning an Audi. They suggested it was "typical behaviour" of owners of the German car. One said: "It’s called a complete lack of consideration! I’d stick a wheel clamp on it and a £100 fine." Another added: "It’s a convertible And an Audi…….says it all."

Although, while many motorists gave the expected criticism over the driver's behaviour, other users were willing to give the benefit of the doubt to this driver. As one user thought it was not just Audi drivers, but many others as he commented: "Unfortunately this is the attitude of the modern driver. I see this a lot these days everywhere."

Others were quick to defend the driver, saying he or she might have a valid reason for the positioning of their car. One said: "Might have had a baby car seat. Can’t physically get them back into the car if you park in a regular space."

Another said: "Maybe the car that was next to him didn't park properly." A third comment, in defence of the motorist, wrote: "Might have been car over lines before he got there."
