Detectives in Lanarkshire are have launched an attempted murder probe following an incident at the weekend.
Two men were injured in a disturbance which happened around 3.20pm on Sunday, February 28 on Dormiston Road in the village of Kirkmuirhill.
One of the men, aged 38, suffered serious injuries in the incident. He was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where his condition is described as stable.
A 40-year-old man was also injured in the incident but has not required medical attention.

Detective Sergeant Frank Donaghy of Lanarkshire CID said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone who was in the area or who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage of the incident.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2283 of 27 February, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
