
A man has been charged with attempted murder over an alleged home invasion that left another man in hospital.
Police allege an 18-year-old local male entered a home in the Gold Coast suburb of Carrara in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Inside, a man and woman, aged 38 and 46 respectively, were woken by their dogs and noticed a light coming from their lounge room.
The man then approached the unknown male in the lounge room of the Plateau Crescent home, where an altercation broke out, police said.
The man suffered wounds to his torso, right shoulder and a cut to his face while the female also suffered a chest injury.
He was rushed to hospital while the woman was treated for her injuries before being discharged.
The 18-year-old male fled the scene, police said.
In unrelated incidents earlier on Tuesday, he is also accused of threatening a 21-year-old man with a knife and attempting to enter a separate home.
After investigations, he was charged with one count of attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm, armed robbery, enter dwelling with intent at night and attempt to enter dwelling at night.
He was also charged with unlawful possession of category M weapon (knuckle dusters), unlawful possession of explosive (ammunition) and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs (testosterone and cannabis).
He will appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
