Aston Martin teams up with Meccano for 1:8-scale F1 model for the 2026 release

Aston Martin has confirmed a new licence agreement with Meccano, which will result in the release of the Meccano Pro x Aston Martin Formula 1 car.

The set will allow fans to construct a highly detailed 1:8-scale model inspired by the Silverstone outfit's 2025 car, the AMR25, and will be released in August 2026.

The model, which is part of the Meccano Pro range aimed at experienced, adult builders, will feature: working steering, a fully functioning engine and movable DRS.

Matt Chapman, head of licensing and merchandising at the Aston Martin F1 team, said in a press release: “Our licence agreement with Meccano allows us to translate the complexity of our race car into a tangible experience for fans, celebrating both innovation and craftsmanship in a unique and engaging way.

"We’re also proud that we are the first Formula One team to collaborate with Meccano on a licensed product.”

Dave Martin and Mary Price, co-founders of Addo Play, added: “It has been fantastic working with Aston Martin, and the great partnership and strong collaboration behind the Meccano Pro x Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Car showcases our commitment to premium engineering builds for fans and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for licensed products within the Meccano portfolio.”

This comes ahead of the 2026 F1 season, which will be the first year of Aston Martin's power unit partnership with Honda and with Adrian Newey as team principal.

The Lawrence Stroll-led team will unveil its 2026 challenger on 9 February, two days before testing. After finishing the 2025 season seventh in the constructors' standings, Aston Martin and drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso will be hoping to turn things around for the upcoming season.

The Australian Grand Prix will kick off the season on 6-8 March.
