Assistant professor hiring in West Bengal: Interview put on hold, may resume in July

KOLKATA: The College Service Commission issued a notice on Saturday putting on hold the interview of the assistant professor recruitment. It has been mentioned in the notice that the process will be resumed in July and the fresh schedule is likely to be issued by July 11.

Commission chairperson Dipak Kar said, "We have started some upgradation work and internal repairing which need at least one month to be over. So we have issued the notice and will resume it in the month of July."

The commission has started the interview procedure recently to appoint assistant professors in state-aided colleges.

A source said 1,500 posts have been counted till date. Number of applications received for the advertisement is 33,000 and 1,000 candidates are appearing in the interview for five subjects each week. Over 8,000 candidates have appeared in the interview for 15 subjects.

After SSC, a section of candidates raised question about the recruitment procedure in the College Service Commission, too.

However, the chairperson of the commission has made it clear that there is no connection of their move with any controversy and that the upgradation work was the reason behind their decision.

The last recruitment was conducted in 2019. After two years, the selection process was started recently and a huge number of vacancies will be filled up this time.
