Price hikes for baby essentials at local supermarkets have left parents livid. Parents and carers are now facing price rises of up to 60 per cent for nappies and baby wipes, according to latest figures.
Shoppers have seen the cost of some 90 Pampers products rocket in the big four supermarkets - Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's. Birmingham Live discovered that at Asda, shoppers had seen huge price rises with Pampers 24 packs rocketing by 60 per cent in a month.
Prices at Morrisons were also higher. The news website noted that New Baby baby wipes jumped from £11 to £15. Aqua Pure Baby Wipes were also on the rise at Tesco and Sainsbury's, by between 50p and £1.50.

A spokeswoman for Sainsbury’s said: “We are committed to offering our customers great choice and value when they shop with us." Sainsbury’s offers private-label alternatives for “as little as 60p”, a spokeswoman added. Tesco says it sold a range of branded and own-label nappies at a range of price points to suit different budgets.
The cost of living crisis is hitting a range of products and services as everything for energy and fuel prices to milk and other essentials see price hikes. Taking to social media, shoppers reacted to the rising cost of baby essentials and described how they were dealing with big brand price hikes. One Twitter user wrote: "Aldi and Lidl do the best nappies and wipes. No need for Pampers, water wipes etc. Literally throwing money away."
Another added: "There are cheaper ones at most shops that are just as good, I always used cheaper cos could never afford Pampers." A third added: "Does anyone actually buy pampers without a coupon? They’re not even very good".
Adding to the debate, another person wrote: "What’s wrong with good old reusables and no need for wipes cut up old tea towels and wash, better for environment and wallets, quite simple. "
