Asda has unveiled a new addition to its stores that has gone down a storm among shoppers with a sweet tooth.
The supermarket has rolled out a ‘Cake Shop’ section dedicated to its own range of mouth-watering treats. Asda announced the news on Instagram, showing off one of its new Cake Shops that was stocked full of donuts.
Offering a range of tasty-looking toppings, the donuts in the shop are priced at £1 each, with mix and match boxes available with a box of six priced at just £4.50. And shoppers were quick to share their excitement at the news, MyLondon reports .

Customers took to the comments section on the Instagram video to hail the new feature as a “dream come true” and “stepping the donut game up”. Another person added: “This is why I shop in Asda.”
Several shoppers drew comparisons with donut giant Krispy Kreme, which is also available in Asda and other supermarkets. But with a box of six mini Krispy Kreme donuts priced at £6.45, Asda’s version is a great alternative for customers on a budget.
However, some did question the name of the ‘Cake Shop’. “Why’s it not called a donut shop?” one shopper asked. Another added: “I’m so triggered by the name and yet not seeing a single cake.”
The supermarket also offers a mix and match three donuts for £2.75 deal. Asda urged customers to “head to your local store to shop” the sweet selection, although it has not yet been confirmed how many stores the Cake Shops will appear in.
