One shopper managed to cut their Asda food bill from £52 to £12 after taking advantage of the supermarket's "hidden" price labels.
The Asda regular told YorkshireLive they were an "Asda Rewards" member and made the £40 saving by keeping an eye out for Asda Rewards labels in their local store.
The app works by encouraging shoppers to target certain products to get money back into the app which they can then convert into vouchers to spend in-store.
Sometimes, the supermarket pays 10% cashback on certain items and the app's "Super Stars" products can give even more.
Speaking to YorkshireLive, the shopper, who remained anonymous, said: "After I downloaded the app I noticed the 'Star Products' labels on various shelves. Sometimes they were hidden.
"For example, an 'out of stock' label might be covering up a product label if it hadn't been changed by a member of staff."
"Other times, I'd be stood weighing up whether to buy one product or the other when I would check the app and realise that one of them was offering credit back on the purchase."
The Asda shopper said they were trying to buy some cola cans, and the supermarket was offering £2.50 cashback on Coke Zero and nothing on Pepsi despite it being a similarly priced can.
They added: "So I ditched the Pepsi and bought just under £30 worth of Coke Zero, which instantly gave me £7.50 in my wallet."
The shopper said they followed the rewards labels on the shelves and always compared similar items which were close in size and price.
By doing this, the shopper managed to make a saving of £40 over the course of "two or three big shops".
The shopper then turned the £40 credit into a voucher on the app and used it at the till to get their £52 haul reduced to just £12.98 to pay.
They added: "I'm already back up to £5.50 on the app. It's more generous than other supermarkets, and I get another 1% cashback by paying on a Chase card."
The Asda Rewards is an app-based loyalty scheme and prides itself on "pounds, not points" and it's vouchers can be created with as little as £1, and with the maximum voucher amount at £100.
The more someone shops at Asda, the more their cash pot will build on the Asda app.
The app can then be scanned upon checking out and can be linked up to an Asda.com account for those shopping online.
After you've built up some pounds, you can redeem your cash whenever you choose by creating a voucher in the app with the money you have saved.
