Artisan cafe selling hand-cut sourdough sandwiches to open in Ayrshire town this summer

A new artisan cafe is set to open in Ayr town centre.

The new eaterie, called Dough, is set to open in mid June on Sandgate and is the latest venture from the Narture community interest company.

Robert Singer and daughter Saskia already run the Bread shop round the corner on Cathcart Street selling 72-hour naturally leavened sourdough bread and other deli products along with teas and coffees.

The new venue, currently being renovated, will feature sourdough products, deli items, tea/coffee, and a new range of bespoke sandwiches and speciality dessert treats.

The new shop was given the green light by South Ayrshire Council planners recently after Mr Singer applied to change the use of the building from an artist studio/gallery to a cafe.

No cooking or baking will take place on the premises, the application states. Food will be served to customers sitting in and taking away.
