Fulham have had a €20million (£17.4m) bid rejected for Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta.

Udinese have no plans to sell the Frenchman, and it is unclear whether Fulham will make a second bid for the 22-year-old.

A tall yet technical midfielder, Atta only signed permanently for Udinese in the summer, but is already attracting interest from across Europe.

The former French youth international has been struggling with a hamstring injury of late, but is expected to return to fitness in the coming days.

Fulham have been active in the first few days of the January window as they seek to add reinforcements after a frustrating summer transfer window.

The west Londoners, who sit 11th in the Premier League table, waited until Deadline Day to complete the bulk of their business in the summer, leaving Marco Silva short of options at the start of the season.

Samuel Chukwueze and Jonah Kusi-Asare arrived on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, while Fulham broke their club-record transfer fee to bring in Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Silva, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has publicly voiced his frustration at the pace of Fulham’s transfer business, with the club prioritising contract renewals over the summer as they tied down Rodrigo Muniz, Kenny Tete and Josh King to new long-term deals.

Fulham, though, are keen to offer Silva a new contract and are prepared to back the Portuguese this month as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the second half of the season.
