Art of the possible

To mark International Women's Day, Central and Robinson have joined hands with eight prominent female artists to host the "ShePossible" exhibition, on view at Central@CentralwOrld until March 26. All proceeds from the online charity auction will go to the Center for Girls Foundation, the Freedom Restoration Project, and the Friend of Women Foundation. The highest bidder for each artwork will get an NFT certificate for each piece.

Kawita "Praew" Vatanajyankur, Sirima "Pahparn" Chaipreechawit, Jaruorn "Orn" Thongthai, Tongchit "Pang" Torsuwan, Aiya Manthachitra, Note Panayanggool and Pannaphan Yodmanee are among the artists on the programme.

Rvisra Chirathivat, chief marketing officer of Central Department Store, said: "Central Department Store and Robinson Department Store believe in the potential of women, and we aim to empower them to drive changes that lead to true equity. The 'ShePossible' campaign, a programme of inspiring activities which includes an art exhibition and charity auction to raise funds to support foundations, as well as talks in collaboration with the well-known television show Joh Jai to share their stories of success. We want to pass on this positive energy to women in Thailand beyond International Women's Day and continue to drive our society to improve the quality of life for women."

One exhibition highlight is Chanida's painting Phoenix. The phoenix, which burns to ashes before rising again, stands for rebirth and freedom. The artwork Independent Traveller by artist Jaruorn, meanwhile, employs a new acrylic technique to depict an independent traveller with a can-do attitude.

Giant, 2023 was created by Tongchit, who was motivated by the current condition of society wherein gender equality is a hot topic and patriarchy still rules in many contexts, such as workplaces, homes and the media. Also on display is Made It Possible by Aiya, who emphasises how her mother inspired her to build a life and a future for herself.

Women from a variety of fields including Suntaree Lohapued, a boxing gym manager and promoter for Jit Muang Non; anti-ageing specialist Dr Chonmaphan Krasae; and Veerada Siripong, who started a business with scrap materials valued at 5 baht per sack and made it to Milan Design Week, also took part in the 'ShePossible' talks with each woman discussing her own route to success.
