Arsenal transfer round-up: Gunners target ex-Man City forward as decision made on Balogun future

Arsenal rounded-off their warm weather training camp in Dubai with a 2-1 victory over AC Milan as they continued to step up preparations for the resumption of the Premier League season.

But more importantly for the Gunners, they won a second successive game without Gabriel Jesus in their side, proving that things might not be as bad as first feared. Nonetheless, the latest reports have linked them with a former Manchester City forward as a result of the latest injury to the Brazilian, while another decision has been made on the future of one of their own strikers.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…

Arsenal target ex-Man City ace

Arsenal are interested in signing Barcelona forward and ex-Man City man Ferran Torres in January - just 12 months after he departed the Premier League.

The Gunners must cope without star striker Jesus for the next three months as a result of a long-term injury, meaning they are left with just Eddie Nketiah in attack as they aim to continue their top flight title charge into the second half of the season.

Torres primarily operates as a winger for the La Liga giants but German outlet BILD have reported that the Gunners want to sign the Spanish international, who has previously worked under Arteta when the pair were still at the Etihad Stadium.

Gunners make decision on Balogun

Arsenal have made a decision on the future of young striker Folarin Balogun following his first six months on loan at Ligue 1 side Reims this season.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a return to the Emirates Stadium in January as a result of the long-term injury sustained to Jesus, despite sealing a season-long move in the summer. Since moving to France, Balogun has eight goals and two assists in 15 appearances.

But transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the Gunners will not be recalling Balogun back from his loan spell in the New Year, hinting that signing a new striker is even more likely as a result.

Arsenal suffer defender blow

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Lyon defender Malo Gusto following reports that Manchester United have joined the race for the 19-year-old.

The Gunners have regularly scouted the French youngster but Arteta has instead opted to use Ben White at right back this season. However, Gusto could still be targeted across the next two transfer windows if the Spaniard wants a more natural option in that position.

Nonetheless, Sky Sports Germany have now revealed that United have made Gusto one of their top transfer targets as they seek a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, meaning Arsenal could be out of the running if they fail to act.
