Arsenal are interested in signing Inter Milan centre-forward Lautaro Martinez, according to recent reports.
The Gunners need to sign a top-class striker this summer after allowing former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave the club during the January transfer window, whilst Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are also both into the final five months of their contracts at the Emirates Stadium.
Last week Italian outlet Calciomercato reported that the north Londoners are interested in the aforementioned Martinez, who could reportedly leave the San Siro at the end of the current campaign.
Now, l Giorno, via Sport Witness, have claimed that Inter would be willing to let the 24-year-old leave if the price is right, with Transfermarkt valuing the Argentine at £72million.
The report also states that Arsenal have taken 'the first steps' towards signing the clinical forward but may face competition from La Liga giants Barcelona, as well as other Premier League sides.
If the Gunners are able to sign Marinez they would be getting one of the most exciting strikers in the world, according to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking to the Reds' official website last month, ahead of their Champions League last-16, first leg match against Inter, Klopp said: "Obviously [Alexis] Sanchez and [Edin] Dzeko we know well - and Lautaro Martinez is one of the most exciting strikers in the world."

The 24-year-old helped the Nerazzurri clinch the Serie A title last season for the first time in over a decade and he has continued in the same vein of form this term.
In fact, he has notched 11 goals and two assists in just 18 league starts over the course of the 2021/22 campaign so far.
