Arsenal supporters name surprise option in dream summer transfer pitch to Mikel Arteta and Edu

With football.london reporting that Arsenal want to add two forwards, a central midfielder and a backup right-back to the squad in the summer, I decided to select the four players I would like the club to at least consider.

Benfica's prolific striker Darwin Nunez, Chelsea's talented Armando Broja, Napoli playmaker Fabian Ruiz and Ajax's attacking full-back Noussair Mazraoui made my list.

After revealing my picks on social media, I asked fans whether they agreed with my choices and although many did, more names were thrown into the mix.

For the right-back option, Djed Spence and Tino Livramento were the overall favourites. Spence, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough, is enjoying a strong season. Scoring two goals and providing three assists so far, his FA Cup displays against Arsenal and Leicester City, in particular, caught the eye of many.

Meanwhile, Livramento is a highly-rated England U-21 international who has been a key player under Ralph Hasenhuttl this season. He may only have one goal and two assists during the current campaign, but his impressive performances have led to his Transfermarkt value rising from £4.50m to £16.20m.

In midfield, fans seem in favour of a move for Ruiz but Ruben Neves was also a notable shout. The 24-year-old Wolves star has been previously linked with a move to Arsenal and continues to be a standout for Bruno Lage's side, most recently putting in a Man of the Match performance against Watford before scoring a 20-yard beauty.

Going forward and opinions were again divided. Nunez and Broja are certainly players that Arsenal fans think very highly of, but Patson Daka was a name mentioned on three separate occasions with it suggested he would represent 'shrewd' business. This was backed up even further when fans revealed their admiration for the striker.

The Zambia international has got off to a good start in England after arriving from RB Salzburg last summer, with ten goals and four assists to his name.

Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry rounded off some great suggestions. It's no secret that supporters would love to see him back at the Emirates, but you can't help but feel that Champions League qualification is the only hope they have for this one.

Gnabry has developed into one of the best forwards in the world after departing north London back in 2016 and will only have a year left on his contract come the summer if Bayern Munich fail to find a breakthrough with the German.

The outcome of this season will likely determine what Arsenal can achieve in the window, but nonetheless, it is set to be another busy one for Mikel Arteta and Edu as they look to continue a major squad overhaul.
