Arsenal's mystery winger target finally 'revealed' amid long-term Edu transfer talks

Wolves star Pedro Neto could very well be the 'mystery winger' that Arsenal want to sign if recent reports are to be believed.

The north Londoners have spent in excess of £110 million this summer to bring in five first-team players in the form of former Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, as well as young midfielder Fabio Vieira, teenage winger Marquinhos and experienced goalkeeper Matt Turner. Still, with club-record signing Nicolas Pepe seemingly on his way out of the door, the Gunners continue to be linked with a move for a replacement wideman in the transfer market.

"A winger, they wanted Raphinha, but now that is not the case as we mentioned," transfer guru Fabrizo Romano said on the Que Golazo podcast earlier this summer. "So, for Arsenal, we will see if they go for another winger.

"I will try to let you know who the player is. I have an indication but I can’t speak yet because I have to check and make sure it’s the right name. I’m working on it, they’re very good at keeping it quiet this summer."

Mikel Arteta's men have since been linked with the likes of Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen ace Moussa Diaby, although according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, it is Wolves starlet Neto that is the preferred option at the Emirates Stadium. Superagent Jorge Mendes, who represents the Portuguese attacker, is said to be central to discussions regarding a deal, although Bruno Lage's side have no plans to sell the 22-year-old before next month's deadline.

This could make a deal difficult given Arsenal's concerns regarding Financial Fair Play whilst it remains unclear exactly how much the talented forward would cost to sign in this window.
