Arsenal are set to try again to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo in the summer transfer window having failed in their attempts in January to land the Brazilian.
The 25-year-old looked likely to complete a loan move to north London and reports even suggested he was keen to sign having fallen out of favour under Massimiliano Allegri in Turin. But with Juventus unable to source a replacement for the player in time, he remained with the Serie A giants beyond the deadline.
But with football.london understanding that Roma will come in for Granit Xhaka again at the end of the season, Mikel Arteta is eager to bolster his midfield. Youri Tielemans has been touted as a potential option for the Gunners but with Manchester United and Liverpool both also interested, the north Londoners may struggle.

It appears that Arteta and director of football Edu have not yet given up on landing their previous target, however. Calcio Mercato have now reported that Arsenal will come back in for Arthur during the summer transfer window.
However, how willing Juventus will be to let the Brazilian leave remains to be seen. While Arthur found himself benched for many of the early weeks of the season, he has become a regular in the starting XI of late, starting the Old Lady's last four Serie A games.
Speaking in February after his move to Arsenal had fallen through, Allegri expressed satisfaction with how Arthur had performed since the end of the transfer window.
“Arthur is improving, he played very well on Sunday,” said Allegri, via the Mirror. “He’s like a child, always running behind the ball. Sometimes he has to handle himself a little bit more, but he put in a great performance against Hellas Verona. He has extraordinary technical abilities."
