Aaron Ramsdale: One nice save from Saint-Maximin, but the England keeper looked jittery throughout. His distribution was very poor and he was lucky not to gift an early goal. 5.
Takehiro Tomiyasu: Was having a tough time dealing with Allan Saint-Maximin and was getting turned inside and out before having to come off with what looked like a hamstring injury this time. Arsenal will still be hopeful that it's not too serious. 5.
Ben White: Unlucky to score the own goal but didn't really look fit throughout. Some nice blocks but in the opening period he looked as shaky as the rest of the back line. 5.

Gabriel: Was shaky like the rest of the back line, and like most of the rest of the backline probably wasn't fit. Did his best, but it wasn't enough to keep the clean sheet that Arsenal really needed on the night. 5.
Nuno Tavares: His foul throw led to the Newcastle goal indirectly. Another moment of brainlessness from the young full back who doesn't seem to learn from mistakes. Offered very little offensively also. 4.
Mohamed Elneny: Decent enough in front of the back line. Did his best to screen and was economical in possession, far too few options too many times though. 6.
Martin Odegaard: Some nice combination play with Saka down the right to create Arsenal's only chances in the first half. However, in a big game when Arsenal needed him to dictate possession, he was relatively anonymous. 5.
Granit Xhaka: Did his best to rally Arsenal and appeared to be one of the few players who appreciated how urgent it was for Arsenal to try to get a win. 7.
Bukayo Saka: Had Arsenal's best chances in the first half and was the most threatening Arsenal player, but that was a low bar. Did very little in the second half though. 6.
Eddie Nketiah: Anonymous for much of the game. Couldn't make the ball stick when Arsenal were on the attack despite some hard work. 6.
Emile Smith Rowe: Could hardly impact the game at all as Arsenal struggled to get out of their own half in the first period. A slightly anonymous display from the England international. 5.
Substitutes -
Cedric: Out of position for the goal as he gambled on trying to attack. An error of judgement that could prove costly in the top four race. 5.
Gabriel Martinelli: Injected a bit of energy into a lacklustre performance. Tried to get forward and be direct but was withdrawn into a deeper role when Arsenal needed to score despite being one of the Gunners best finishers. 6.
Alexandre Lacazette: Ran about a bit, geed up some players, but in terms of goalmouth action, it was the square route of nothing. 5.
Nicolas Pepe: Brought on due to a concussion sub for Newcastle. Probably would have been better staying on the bench. 4.
