Arsenal player ratings vs Brentford as Alex Zinchenko poor but Leandro Trossard makes impact

Aaron Ramsdale: Wouldn't have been at fault for either of Brentford's early chances if they'd gone in, but he was a little slow to smother the cross the found Toney for the equaliser. 6.

Ben White: Better than he has been in the past couple of games. Contributed more to the attack. Still not quite at his best though and Brentford targeted him with long balls on the break. 6.

William Saliba: Dealt well with Toney in individual physical battles but was a bit slow to clear his lines on occasion creating problems for Arsenal. Poor in the air for the goal. 5.

Gabriel: Dealt well with Bretnford in transition and was good on the ball. Showed good leadership too to keep standards high throughout. Sluggish to react for the goal though as Arsenal failed to clear their lines. 6.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: His passing was uncharacteristically a little off, with simple balls going astray. A few pot shots from distance as well when things were getting a bit more desperate towards the end. 5.

Thomas Partey: Did his usual tricks of feinting away from pressure to great effect at the base of the midfield. Could have done a little more to set the tempo a bit higher for the Gunners though maybe. 6.

Granit Xhaka: Some decent offensive moments in the first half where he showed that side of his game once more. However, that part of his game faded and it wasn't a surprise to see him sacrificed for a more offensive option this time. 6.

Martin Odegaard: Probably Arsenal's most influential player on the day, conducting the crowd and trying to raise the tempo. Some lovely slotted passes including one to free Saka for the Trossard goal. 7.

Bukayo Saka: A little quiet in the first half but you can forgive that when he produces moments of individual quality like that cross for Trossard's goal. Broke the game open when it was starting to look lost. 7.

Eddie Nketiah: Looked good in some moments in transition but his influence was limited. Another day where he spent a bit too much time rigidly central. Had more of an impact when drifting left in the second half. 5.

Gabriel Martinelli: Not particularly bad but a long way off his scintillating best. Looks to be missing Gabriel Jesus. Could have scored a superb volley on another day. Won't have been helped by the fact that the man who replaced him scored. 6

SUBSTITUTES -

Leandro Trossard: Exactly the impact you'd want from the bench in terms of the goal. Not something Arsenal had before without attacking impetus on the bench. 7.

Fabio Vieira: The Portuguese midfielder needs to do more with these cameos off the bench to help decide games. A little too anonymous again when Arsenal needed him to turn the game. 5.
