Arsenal outcast can help Edu replicate Luis Diaz Liverpool blueprint to seal £12.7m bargain

Things tend to go a bit quiet during the international break, but that hasn't stopped fresh transfer reports surfacing for Arsenal. The last few days have seen PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo and Leeds' Raphinha linked, but a new name is carrying on this week's winger trend.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, the Gunners have made a proposal to Feyenoord's Luis Sinisterra. The 22-year-old is enjoying a strong season in Holland, bagging 18 goals and 11 assists across 38 appearances so far.

Like Liverpool's Luis Diaz, the Colombian international is primarily right-footed but mainly operates on the left-hand side of the frontline and that is where he has continued to shine bright.

The report also states that Sinisterra is valued at around €15m (£12.7m) and will be sold this coming summer, with a host of sides including Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen also showing an interest.

However, if the interest is serious from Arsenal's perspective, Mikel Arteta knows someone who could give Edu a head start in the race. Reiss Nelson currently finds himself on loan at Feyenoord after struggling for game time in north London.

It hasn't been the smoothest of transitions for the Englishman, who has only managed to score two goals and provide two assists for the Dutch side so far. Although his future is uncertain, Nelson remains an Arsenal player and he can be putting in a good word about his parent club.

Considering Folarin Balogun could be the only first-team striker remaining at the end of the season when Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah's contracts run out, Arteta will be in desperate need of added firepower. Nicolas Pepe's future also remains up in the air following the consistency of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe's performances over the course of the current campaign. Interestingly, most of the wide forwards who appear to be on Edu's shopping list are known to be clinical in front of goal.

With Champions League qualification looking like a strong possibility as things stand, the main emphasis in the summer will be to add versatile forwards who possess a solid goal contribution record and Sinisterra certainly fits the bill.

There were doubts over whether or not Diaz, who joined Jurgen Klopp's side in January for a reported fee of £37.5m, would be able to cut it in England. But the former Porto man has taken the Premier League like a duck to water.

For Arsenal, Sinisterra at £12.7m doesn't only mean the potential move is low risk, but Diaz's transition to life at Anfield proves it could become a masterstroke signing.
