Here is your morning Arsenal digest on Wednesday, February 1.
Arteta completes Wenger's transfer mission
Arsenal were first linked with new signing Jorginho during the 2012/2013 season. Speaking on the links at the time Jorginho said via the Mirror: "Staying here for another season would only do me good," Jorginho told the Italian press in October 2013. "I feel at home here and there is great enthusiasm in this place.
"In the match against Parma, there were scouts from teams like Arsenal and Chelsea. Maybe, if I continue to play well, I can see exactly what I am worth."
Despite links to teams in the Premier League, Jorginho would end up staying in the Serie A to join Napoli. It was here when the player's agent Joao Santos told an Italian radio station in November 2015: "One of the head scouts of Arsenal is well-known, and so I know he was at Marassi for the Napoli match. If Napoli receive an irrefutable offer for Jorginho in January then it’s normal that we’d make our assessments."

Jorginho debate
After being frustrated by Brighton & Hove Albion's reluctance to sell Moises Caicedo, Arsenal quickly turned their attention to Jorginho.
football.london understands Arsenal will pay £10million up front for the 31-year-old with a further £2million in add-ons which could hinge on conditions such as whether or not Arsenal win the Premier League. The 31-year-old joins on an initial 18-month contract with the option to extend by a further year.
Jorginho had just six months remaining on his Chelsea contract and it's believed Todd Boehly was always willing to let the midfielder leave Stamford Bridge at the right price. But not many expected Edu and Mikel Arteta to go in for the former Napoli man.

Midfield moves
Despite signing Jorginho on transfer deadline day, Arsenal are still keen to bring in two big-money midfielders this summer if recent reports are to be believed.
As per Sky Sports transfer expert Dharmesh Sheth, the north Londoners still want to sign both West Ham United captain Declan Rice and Brighton star Moises Caicedo at the end of the current campaign. The Gunners saw bids of £60 million and £70 million for Caicedo rebuffed by the Seagulls during the January transfer window, with Roberto De Zerbi's side making it clear that they didn't want to sell the Ecuadorian at any cost.
West Ham maestro Rice has also been heavily linked with a summer switch to the Emirates Stadium and football.london understands that the Gunners still hold a keen interest in bringing the England international to the club this summer.
