Arsenal will be hoping to improve their sales record in the upcoming transfer windows after failing to receive a significant fee for one of their exits in 2021. Arsenal have sold just one player for more than £20 million in the past five transfer windows.
Joe Willock was sold by Arsenal to Newcastle in a figure that could rise to around £25 million. In 2022, the highest fee received for a player was the €11m (£9.5m) that the Gunners received for Matteo Guendouzi from Marseille after an obligation to buy clause was triggered in his loan agreement football.london understands.
Many players left for either low fees or nothing where the club had hoped to secure better financial reinforcement. Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Hector Bellerin would almost certainly fall into this category.

Whilst others left on loan in the hope their performances would secure better fees in 2023. Pablo Mari left on loan for Monza in Serie A where his deal included a clause that would see Arsenal sell the player permanently for €7m (£6.1m) should the Italian side avoid relegation.
Last weekend, Monza took a huge step toward this goal and subsequently handed Arsenal hope of earning a financial windfall for next summer. Having travelled to play bottom of the league Sampdoria it was a massive opportunity to break out of the relegation places and they did.
Mari started and kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 away win. Goals from Matteo Pessina, Gianluca Caprari and Stefano Sensi capped off a dominant performance which highlighted why Sampdoria are in so much trouble. Wasted opportunities, players blaming one another and poor defending.
Mari however watched on from the back as his side spread the ball well, crossed dangerously and found a footing they’ve not necessarily had in too many games this season. If this performance can be repeated, Mari and Monza might find themselves looking a lot more secure than they have done so far this season.
