Thomas Partey is travelling back to London on Wednesday following Ghana's shock exit from the African Cup of Nations, football.london understands.
The Black Stars were knocked out of this year's tournament after disappointing results against Morocco, Gabon and most recently Comoros, with Partey registering an assist in last night's game.
The Gunners are currently without the suspended Granit Xhaka in midfield while Mohamed Elneny is away with Egypt at the Cameroon-based tournament.
Mikel Arteta allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles to leave for Italian side AS Roma on loan, leaving Albert Sambi Lokonga as the only senior central midfielder available to face Liverpool in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday.
Arsenal remain hopeful that Partey should be available to face Burnley this weekend in the Premier League, although it will be dependent on whether he returns back a negative Covid-19 test as per the current guidelines.
Speaking ahead of Thursday's semi-final second leg, Arteta admitted that he wants the £45million man back in the team "as soon as possible."
“Well, they [Ghana] played last night,” said Arteta on Wednesday.
“It was a huge disappointment for Thomas obviously because he was representing his country and in this period he had big aims towards the competition.
“He's out now so he will be fully focused and involved with Arsenal as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, Pablo Mari is expected to complete his loan deal to Udinese within the next 24 hours.
The Spaniard is surplus to requirements at Arsenal and has been frustrated at a lack of playing time at the club this season.
Mari has only made two Premier League starts during the current campaign and Arteta sanctioned the move after one on one talks with the 28-year-old centre back.
