Arsenal midfielder drops Leicester team news hint as Mikel Arteta faces Thomas Partey decision

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has dropped an early team news hint with a post on social media ahead of the clash against Leicester City. The Italy international was signed from Chelsea in a £12million deal and has proved an important addition after Thomas Partey's recent injury.

The Ghanaian midfielder has missed the last two games against Manchester City and Aston Villa after sustaining a muscle injury. Mikel Arteta revealed this week that Partey is close to making a return to action but did not train ahead of the game against Leicester City this afternoon.

Gabriel Jesus is making good progress as he continues to recover from a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since the World Cup. Mohamed Elneny recently extended his contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2024 despite facing a long-term injury of his own.

Jorginho has posted a matchday graphic on his Instagram story hinting that he could start against the Foxes this afternoon. Given the fact Partey has not taken part in first team training this week, it makes sense that Arteta would not risk the Ghana international with so many crucial games still to come.

The Gunners boss provided an update on Partey's fitness in his pre-Leicester press conference on Friday morning. Arteta said: "The question mark on Thomas, he hasn’t trained much but looks like he could be available.

"Let’s see how he goes today. We’ve missed him in the past few games and hopefully he’ll be back."

Arteta also revealed how Fabio Vieira is causing him a 'headache' as the Portuguese playmaker pushes to make a rare start with some good training sessions. Arsenal could be five points clear at the top of the table before City face Bournemouth this evening.
