Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been hailed by club legend Ian Wright for 'leading by example' during the win against Fulham.
Odegaard has scored three goals in his last two appearances for the Gunners and is beginning to find some impressive form for Mikel Arteta's side. The Norwegian playmaker has formed a good partnership with summer signing Gabriel Jesus, with the duo currently contributing the most goals and assists at the club.
Gary Lineker questioned Real Madrid's 'strange' decision to let Odegaard leave the Santiago Bernabeu last summer, a move that has ultimately led to the 23-year-old being handed the club captaincy role by Arteta. Odegaard will be hoping to continue his fine form throughout the season and lead the Gunners to a top-four finish, a feat that narrowly missed out on last term at the hands of north London rivals Tottenham.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Wright was full of praise for the Arsenal captain, who scored a crucial equaliser just minutes after Aleksandar Mitrovic put the visitors 1-0 up at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners icon said: "The captain led by example today, his passing, his pressing, his composure in finding space."
Mikel Arteta was also full of praise for Odegaard following an impressive performance when speaking to the media after the comeback against Fulham. "Influence, and in difficult moments, take the ball. That's what he's done," Arteta said in his post-match press conference.
The Arsenal boss is still thought to be keen to add a new central midfielder and forward to his squad, bringing in more competition for the likes of Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka. Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe's return to fitness will also add more competitiveness for places in Arteta's team, but Odegaard's previous two performances have seen him cement his place as one of the first names on the team sheet.
