Mykhaylo Mudryk has travelled with Shakhtar Donetsk to their mid-season training camp as Arsenal seek a breakthrough in talks for the winger.
Arsenal have had two bids rejected for Mudryk, with the second of those worth around £60million, but they remain in negotiations with Shakhtar.
An agreement has not been found yet, but it is hoped a compromise can be found on Shakhtar’s asking price of £85m.
Mudryk has expressed a desire to join Arsenal. However, with no agreement in place, he travelled with Shakhtar on Tuesday morning to their mid-season training camp in Turkey.
The Shakhtar squad had been given time off due to the Ukrainian top-flight being on its winter break, with Mudryk going on holiday before working with his personal trainer, Dima Chapovskiy.
Arsenal have made Mudryk their no1 target for the January transfer window as manager Mikel Arteta aims to bolster his forward line.
Chelsea are also interested in a deal for Mudryk, but Arsenal are the favourites to sign him given his desire to play for them.
The Blues held talks with Shakhtar last week, however they are now close to signing Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix on loan.
Arsenal are currently short on forward options and that was further highlighted during their 3-0 win over Oxford in the third round of the FA Cup.
Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli all started the match, with Emile Smith Rowe coming on towards the end to make his first appearance since September.
