Arsenal want to sign a striker during the remainder of the January transfer window - that much is abundantly clear.
The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah all have uncertain futures at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have of course been linked with a move for Fiorentina sensation Dusan Vlahovic but a deal for the Serbian appears difficult considering the Serie A outfit’s current price tag, as well as the striker’s intention to remain in Italy until the summer.
Meanwhile, La Viola’s CEO Joe Barone has insisted that an immediate deal is not on the cards.
Talking to La Nazione, he said: "Some English clubs have made contact with Fiorentina, but there's no agreement and there can't be if someone... [doesn't talk].”
With that all being said, football.london takes a look at five alternatives that the Gunners could look at in the meantime with a combined value of just under £200m.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
As well as Vlahovic, Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium due to his brilliant goalscoring performances at Goodison Park.
The Mirror have previously suggested that he was buying eyed as a replacement for Lacazette - whose contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Much like Vlahovic though, he is not expected to be cheap with a transfermarkt valuation of £40.5million and three-and-a-half years left on his current Everton deal.
Ollie Watkins
Sticking with promising English strikers, former Brentford man Watkins has caught the eye in the Midlands since signing for Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old scored 14 goals in his debut top-flight campaign, and has another five to his name this term.
Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta is reported to be a huge fan of the former Exeter City forward.
Paulo Dybala
Whilst both Watkins and Calvert-Lewin are expected to cost the Gunners a pretty penny, a somewhat more affordable option could be Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.
The Argentine is out of contract in Turin at the end of the season and having been rumoured to be eyeing the forward on a number of occasions in the past, Arsenal could well revive their interest.
Dybala is currently in the midst of another productive season in Italy with 11 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions
Jonathan David
Fresh off the back of winning Ligue 1 with Lille last season, Canadian forward Jonathan David has taken his game to an even higher level this season.
He already has 16 goals in 29 outings, form that has seemingly alerted Arsenal. It was reported that the Gunners are interested in the forward amid the French outfit uneasy financial situation.
He has hinted that he is a regular viewer of Arsenal games so it would be interesting to see if he plumped for a switch to the Emirates Stadium should the opportunity arise.
Alexander Isak
A name from slightly further back in the Gunners’ back catalogue, Swedish forward Isak has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium on numerous occasions in the past.
Those links persist to this day but it might be somewhat difficult to seal a deal with Spanish giants Barcelona also keen on securing his services.
