Juventus star Arthur Melo continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal this January.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen their midfield this January, and the Brazilian star is one of the names who is reportedly high on their priority list.
Mikel Arteta's side are extremely short on numbers in the middle of the park after allowing Ainsley Maitland-Niles to leave for AS Roma on loan, whilst Mohamed Elneny is still away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Arsenal are hopeful of signing Arthur on loan until the end of the season, football.london understands.
The Gunners are looking to bring in emergency midfield signings, with Albert Sambi Lokonga, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey currently the club's only senior midfield options.
Whilst reports have suggested that a deal is likely to get over the line, Arsenal have been handed a slight worry after Allegri admitted that he wants Arthur to remain in Turin.
"The team is this and it will remain like this," said the Italian, via the Mirror.
"Let’s not forget that Arthur has come back from six months of inactivity, he needed to find time and he’s now performing well.
"Arthur’s talent is not in dispute, he needs certain players by his side. Arthur’s part of Brazil's national team, he’s an important player."
It's been one of the longest sagas of the transfer window thus far, but the Gunners are insistent on getting their man as they look to make a push for Champions League qualification.
