Arsenal have been handed a huge blow in their pursuit for PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo if recent reports are to be believed. The Gunners have a few weeks to get their transfer business done before it closes until January, with a few late deals potentially on the table.
It comes after a busy window for Mikel Arteta, who added five new faces to the squad before the start of the new Premier League season. While it seems as though most of the business is concluded, there are a few areas that could be addressed in the coming weeks.
The forward ranks appear to be one of those, with the Gunners failing in a bid to sign Raphinha earlier in the window while he was still at Leeds United. They are yet to make a move for another winger since, however, a loan exit for club-record signing Nicolas Pepe could free up space in the squad.

Should he leave, a transfer could be even more likely to happen, with a number of options linked with a move. football.london understands Arsenal hold an interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo, with the forward keen on a switch to the Premier League in the future.
With the 23-year-old impressing, it comes as a little surprise that the Gunners aren't the only side eyeing a potential transfer for Gakpo. The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton have all been linked with a deal for the Netherlands international over the summer.
Should the Gunners want to make their move, they may have to act quickly, though, as the Telegraaf reports that Manchester United are looking to sign both Gakpo and Ajax winger Antony rather than making a decision on one or the other. The latter was recently the subject of a £68million bid, according to reports, which could have had an impact on a transfer for the Arsenal target.
However, should they eye both in the same window, that could be a huge blow for Arteta, given his admiration for the Dutch forward.
