Arsenal handed Bukayo Saka contract boost amid Liverpool transfer interest

Bukayo Saka is reportedly extremely happy at Arsenal amid their ongoing contract talks.

The England international has established himself as one of the Premier League's best right-wingers in recent times, notching eight Premier League goals this season after clinching the club's player of the year award last term. Mikel Arteta and Co are therefore keen to keep the 20-year-old in north London, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2024.

football.london exclusively revealed last month that the Gunners are in talks with Saka over a new contract extension which would make him among the highest-paid players in the squad. Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on the youngster's situation, claiming that the Hale End academy graduate is extremely happy at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking on a recent video on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "At the end of February, I told you that Arsenal were prepared to discuss a new contract for Bukayo Saka. Now, Arsenal are preparing the contract proposal, so they are entering into the details.

"It's not going to be discussed now in March, it’s going to take some time, so in the coming weeks, probably end of the season. Arsenal will meet the agents of Bukayo Saka to discuss the new contract.

"The player is happy with Arsenal, he’s super happy with Arsenal life, so he’s prepared to stay at Arsenal for a long time. Of course, Champions League football will be a key factor to continue together, but Arsenal’s plan seems pretty clear – they want Bukayo Saka to sign a new deal as soon as possible."

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the young star as question marks continue to hang over the future of Mohamed Salah. However, if the Gunners can seal a new deal for the England international it would likely end any speculation over his future.
