Arsenal given PSV fixture update as Metropolitan Police make crucial decision

football.london understands that the Metropolitan Police have indicated that they are comfortable for Arsenal's Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium next Thursday to go ahead.

The game had been thrown into doubt after the Premier League took the decision to postpone all fixture this weekend as a mark of respect following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday. That means that the Gunners' game against Everton at the Emirates Stadium will be rearranged.

However, as the Europa League fixtures fall under UEFA jurisdiction different parameters have been put in place. As things stand the fixture looks likely to go ahead.

At time of writing there has not been any guidance given over whether next Sunday's away clash with Brentford will go ahead. The game is set to take place on the same weekend as Queen Elizabeth II's funeral - which will take place on either the Sunday or Monday - and with the game being in London, policing could be difficult to arrange given that most of the Met's focus will be on Westminster Abbey.

Arsenal are keen to avoid as much waste as possible after the cancellation of Sunday's fixture with Everton. The Gunners will attempt to freeze as much food as possible to be used for Thursday's clash with PSV. Any food that cannot be kept over, however, will be donated to local projects.

The Gunners will train in preparation for their second Europa League group stage match in the build up to Thursday's fixture at London Colney. Mikel Arteta is expected to hold a press conference ahead of the game on Wednesday where he will be joined by a player.
