Arsenal fans involved in 'suspect lasagne delivery' to scupper Tottenham chances in latest Paddy Power stunt

A 'suspect lasagna delivery' has sparked fears of a repeat of lasagne-gate for Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs know that a point against Norwich in the final game of the season tomorrow will guarantee them a top four finish and Champions League football next season.

But there have been reports of illness in the London club's camp, which has recalled the infamous incident in the 2005/06 season when a host of their players, including Ireland star Robbie Keane, were struck down by food poisoning from lasagne ahead of their final match of the season against West Ham.

A 2-1 loss to West Ham saw them leap-frogged for fourth spot by their bitter rivals Arsenal - and Spurs fans are hoping that history won't repeat itself.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have been up to their old tricks this week and have claimed responsibility for pictures doing the rounds online appearing to show a ‘suspect lasagne delivery’ at Carrow Road.

Two rogue food delivery men were captured by paparazzi, at a date and time yet to be confirmed but alleged to have occurred in recent days, carrying boxes of lasagne for dispatch to The Canaries' home ground, ahead of Tottenham’s make-or-break match.

The images show two alleged Arsenal supporters infiltrating a north London food delivery company, presumably to give Spurs a familiar send off and the ultimate unwanted pre-match meal.

A Paddy Power spokesman said: “Arsenal’s defeat earlier this week left the door wide open for Spurs to steal the last remaining Champions League spot. And, with a trip to rock-bottom Norwich being the smallest final day hurdle known to man, their qualification looks nailed on.

“Norwich have been so bad this season though, even a poisoned Spurs squad should still be alright – leaving Antonio Conte’s men free to compete for yet another trophy they won’t actually win.”
