Arsenal face anxious wait as Katie McCabe undergoes scan on foot injury

Arsenal Women winger Katie McCabe will undergo a scan on Thursday to learn the extent of a foot injury picked up during Wednesday’s Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

McCabe injured her left foot in the dying stages of the Gunners’ 2-0 victory and left the Emirates Stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot.

The Republic of Ireland captain is due to have a scan on Thursday and Arsenal will be hoping the injury is not serious.

McCabe impressed during the win over Bayern, bombing forward from left-back to set-up the second and ultimately tie-winning goal that was scored by Stina Blackstenius.

Arsenal have been hit hard by injuries all season and they were impacted again on Wednesday as captain Kim Little limped off after 12 minutes. The midfielder felt a problem with her hamstring but it is hoped she will be okay.

The Gunners have been without star forwards Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema since November due to knee injuries and both will miss the rest of the season.
