Arsenal defender Pablo Mari has issued an update on his health from the hospital bed after being involved in a knife attack in Italy on Thursday evening.
The 29-year-old was taken to hospital after being stabbed at a Carrefour near Milan. Six people were injured after a 46-year-old man took a knife from the store shelves, and one person was killed.
Mari gave a statement saying: "Today I had luck because I saw a person die in front of me. "I was with the trolley with my child inside, and I felt an excruciating pain in my back. Then that man stabbed another in the throat."

The Spanish centre-back had to undergo surgery on the injury, with current side Monza writing a statement which reads: " The specialists of the General Surgery-Trauma Team of the Niguarda Hospital in Milan carried out this morning the surgery to reconstruct the two injured muscles on Pablo Marí's back.
"The surgery went well, and a hospital stay of two or three days is expected. After the resignation, the player will be able to start a rehabilitation process.
"This type of muscle injury usually requires two months of rest before you can resume physical activities."
Mari has now addressed the public from his hospital bed with a photo he posted on social media and a series of messages, he wrote:
"After the hard time we experienced yesterday, both my family and I want to communicate that, fortunately, we are all fine despite the circumstances and to thank all the messages of support and affection that we are receiving.
"In addition, we want to send our condolences and all our strength to the family and friends of the deceased person, and we sincerely wish that all injured people recover as soon as possible.
"After the difficult moment we experienced yesterday, my family and I want to communicate that, fortunately, we are fine, and we want to thank you for the many messages of affection and support we are receiving.
"We are close to the victim's family and friends to whom we offer our deepest condolences. We also wish a speedy recovery to other injured people."
Unfortunately, Monza CEO Andriano Galliani also confirmed the devastating news that one of the workers involved in the attack has heart-breakingly passed away.
Speaking to TG2, the 78-year-old said: “Unfortunately, I received terrible news, the store cashier died. As for Pablo Marì, he had a fairly deep wound on his back, a penetrating one, which, however, did not touch vital organs such as lungs or others. His life is not in danger. He certainly has problems, but he should recover quickly despite some injured muscles.”
