Pep Guardiola once compared Arsenal target Ferran Torres to Premier League veteran Jamie Vardy during their time together at Manchester City.
Following the injury to Gabriel Jesus, who picked up a knee injury with Brazil at the World Cup, Arsenal are currently somewhat light in the forward areas and football.london understands the Gunners are in the market for a winger in January.
Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson and Marquinhos are Arteta's current options and signing Torres would increase the north Londoners' strength in depth.

That being said, reports suggested earlier this week that Arsenal are prioritising the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk this upcoming January. The Gunners have been linked with the Ukraine star for some time, but they've never acted on that interest.
Nevertheless, Torres is another option and if Guardiola's previous words are anything to go by, he'll be worth the investment. After he bagged a brilliant hat-trick against Leicester City while operating as a striker, the Spaniard compared him to Jamie Vardy.
As per HITC, he said: "Now, in this position, he make movements like the best strikers in behind like Jamie Vardy. He is a good finisher, he is so young. Man City made an incredible job buying him."
His City career didn't work out as he made the return to Spain with Barcelona. Nevertheless, if he wants a second crack at the Premier League, Arsenal may be the perfect destination for him. Vardy has had an incredible career in England's top division, perhaps Torres could too.
