Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs - among other Premier League and Championship clubs too - will be allowed to introduce licensed safe standing areas at the stadium from the start of the season. Five teams operated licensed standing areas from January as a trial measure, with the west Londoners hosting the first game.
Cardiff, Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs were the other early adopters of the trial. Brentford, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that they will bring in the designated areas, with Wembley set to follow suit for domestic matches.
This is a huge change of policy that allows fans to stand in designated areas of the stadium following continued risk assessments of fans who persistently stand in seated areas. The decision follows an eagerness from fans who want a choice as to whether they can stand or not, and with having undergone ongoing research by the SGSA, it has been revealed safe standing can be managed safely.
