Arsenal can sign their very own Kylian Mbappe if Edu seals £88m January transfer

Arsenal's start to the 2022/23 campaign has been nothing short of exceptional.

The north Londoners have won 14 of their first 17 Premier League outings, meaning they currently sit first in the division, five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. Mikel Arteta and Co will be desperate to bring the club their first league title in 19 years and bringing in some reinforcements during the January transfer window is certainly one way of increasing their chances of doing so.

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has continuously been mooted as a priority target for the Gunners and football.london reported last month that the Ukranian giants rejected an opening offer of around £55 million for the 22-year-old's services but that doesn't seem to have ended Arsenal's interest. Rumours continue to swirl as the two European sides discuss the logistics of a potential move and the player himself has made it no secret of his desire to play in north London one day.

Speaking to CBS Sports last year about a potential move in the future, Mudryk said: "My dream is to play in Premier League, of course. Arsenal is a very good team, very good manager - so from my side, I can’t say no to Arsenal."

If Arsenal do manage to pull off a deal for the talented winger, they will be getting a player in the same bracket as Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior and Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe if comments from Shakhtar director Darijo Srna are to be believed. "Mudryk is a serious talent", Srna told CBS Sports, via GOAL.

"After Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Junior, he’s the best player in Europe in his position. If someone wants to buy Mudryk they must spend a lot of money and respect our club and president.” It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal technical director Edu pays Shakhtar the £88 million they want for Mudryk but these kind of comparisons from Srna certainly indicate that the 22-year-old has immense potential.
