Arsenal and Crystal Palace lead the way as Premier League Young Player of the Season nominations are revealed

Arsenal and Crystal Palace are well represented as the Premier League released the nominations for the end of season awards.

The London clubs lead the way with Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale both up for Young Player of the Season, along with Crystal Palace duo Conor Gallagher and Tyrick Mitchell. Mason Mount is also on the shortlist, as are Declan Rice, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden.

Gareth Southgate will be particularly pleased with the nominees, as all eight of the young stars are England internationals.

It’s no surprise to see Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola on the shortlist for Manager of the Season, as the pair go head-to-head once again in the final days of the season for the Premier League title.

Thomas Frank is nominated after an incredibly impressive first season in the top-flight with Brentford. The Bees sit comfortably in 13th going into their final two games of the campaign, having never been in any serious danger of going down.

There’s more good news for Crystal Palace, with Patrick Vieira also put forward for the award. He’ll be hoping to lead the Eagles to a top-half finish, having already taken them to an FA Cup semi-final in his first season at Selhurst Park.

Eddie Howe completes the shortlist, despite only joining Newcastle in November. Since then, he has taken the club well away from the relegation zone and turned around the mood at St James’ Park.

Saka and Alexander-Arnold are the two players on the shortlists for both Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season, after enjoying strong campaigns for Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.

Heung-min Son is Tottenham’s sole representative across the three categories, while Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse is also up for the top award.

Mohamed Salah is on the shortlist too, having won the Player of the Season award four years ago. Kevin De Bruyne is another past winner among the nominees, with teammate Joao Cancelo also put forward. Jarrod Bowen completes the list after a stellar season for West Ham.

Fans have until May 16 to vote across the three categories, with those then combined with the opinions of the 20 Premier League club captains and a panel of football experts.
