Police have locked down the area around a school after fears a youth entered the building with a gun in Germany.
A major police operation is underway at the Otto Hahn School in Jenfeld, Hamburg, with officers searching the school.
Students are currently in their classrooms - which are being searched by police one after the other while parents wait outside, RT reports.
A statement by Hamburg Police posted on Twitter says: "There is currently a major police operation at the Otto Hahn School in #Jenfeld .
"The area around the school is closed.
"A youth armed with a gun is said to have entered the school building. We will keep you informed here."
Police added in a later tweet: "It is not clear whether the gunman observed actually entered the building or just walked "in the direction of the school building" and then perhaps past the school.
"As a precaution, the school building is currently being searched by special units."
A spokesperson for the police said the search was still ongoing and that no gunshots have been heard or reported so far.
Parents have been told to gather at a specific collection point.
A tweet by police said: "Parents who now appear at the Otto Hahn School are asked to go to the parents' collection point at Jenfelder Allee 80a (car park).
"You will be looked after there by emergency services as long as the school grounds are sealed off."
Police said the "examination of the school building" was ongoing and asked for patience as their special units investigate.
More than 1,300 students attend the Otto-Hahn-School, a secondary all-day school, according to its website.
Germany has strict laws which require gun-holders to fulfil criteria on age and weapons expertise to obtain a firearms license.
