Two men have been arrested after a reported firearm sighting in the Cynon Valley. The alarm was raised to police at around 8pm on Wednesday, July 27, with reports of a firearm in Catherine Street, Aberdare.
Witnesses reported seeing a large, armed police presence in the area and a police helicopter overhead. Two 24-year-old men have been arrested following the incident and remain in police custody. Police have also confirmed that the imitation firearm has been recovered by officers.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Police in Aberdare arrested two 24 year-old men following a report of a sighting of a firearm in Catherine Street at approximately 8pm on Wednesday, 27 July. Both men are currently in police custody. An imitation firearm has been recovered by officers."
