A man has been left hospitalised in Cork on Friday evening after a horror acid attack in the city.
Armed Gardaí, the Cork City Fire Brigade and the National Ambulance Service are all the scene, according to CorkBeo.
The incident is believed to have happened near the Centra on Connolly Road in Ballyphehane, shortly before 9.30pm.
The man, understood to be local, has been rushed to hospital with "non-life threatening injuries" according to CorkBeo.
A garda spokesperson confirmed an an investigation is now open, telling the publication
They said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident at a residence on Connolly Road in Ballyphehane, Co. Cork.
"Gardaí were alerted to the incident at approximately 8.40pm.
"Fire Services are also at the scene. One male, details currently unknown, has been taken to hospital with serious but what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
"No further information is available at this time. Investigations are ongoing."
